What customers say?

“ I always enjoy this little local cafe. A mixture of Asian & western menu with a huge choice. The chicken and vegetable soup is always a winner. Most dishes I have had here have always been enjoyable. The pad Thai is always good as well. If your in the area check it out. The prices are also reasonable ”

“ A small family owned and run café, where they instantly make you feel part of the family. Pad Thai was fresh, tasty and more-ish! Coffees are always delish when I come to town. Warm and friendly service. Indoor and outdoor comfy seating. Why would you go anywhere else for all day breakfast in East Brighton? ”

- Monica Wescombe -

“ Great food (and menu choices), coffee good and a lovely atmosphere. It had a nice family vibe with all the people working there. I could see through the open kitchen all the ingredients being freshly cut up by hand. Very reasonably priced too. We really enjoyed our meals. Easy to park, but I’m guessing it would be tricky at school drop off and pick up times. ”

“ Fantastic breakfast spot! The pancakes were fluffy, delicious, and perfectly balanced. Great coffee and friendly service — will definitely be back. ”

“ It’s first time visiting Zest in food. Amazing place to relax in. I had fried rice and Banana Smoothie. Highly recommended to eat here. They are so many delicious options. I’ll definitely try them next time. ”

“ Enjoyed my first visit to Zest and would return again. The smashed avocado was wonderfully unpretentious with generous portions of both avocado and crispy bacon (a side order). Portion sizes were ample: just right for a late brunch but not excessively more than could reasonably be eaten. Balsamic was cleverly placed strategically around the plate edge, making optional inclusion easy and at your personal discretion. Toast was nicely seedy, thin & crunchy. Bacon was melt-in your-mouth crispy and arrived quickly (possibly oven-cooked slowly). We added a poached egg: this was bordering on overcooked for the very outer yolk (the flat, light-yellow of hard boiled), however the inner yolk was nicely syrupy. Coffees were OK, but I'm still finding it's challenging finding decent coffee post the pandemic: most milk-based (Mocha / Latte) has poor flavour and strength / body, possibly a mix of poor bean quality, poorly stored, or past-their-best beans or poor extraction regulation. Service was pleasantly casual and unobtrusive, quick yet relaxed. Just great. Maybe it was simply a Sunday late morning vibe, but the side-street location and street-seating setup (about 5 or so outside tables) has a nice relaxed ambience: surprising for its proximity to Hawthorn Rd, North Rd, and the Neapean. A great little spot worth a visit. ”

“ New favourite Brighton cafe! So good we went three days in a row and the range of options and quality of ingredients far surpassed our expectations for a small stand alone cafe. Couldn’t recommend the sandwiches, pad Thai, or the curry more as all were delicious. The staff were also very lovely and remembered us after the first day and were quick to provide food and service. ”

“ Had an amazing time at the cafe. I ordered their famous pad thai and a nice flat white. (it did not disappoint) I would definitely be coming back here ”
